Workplace Bikes provides a simple way for you to cut the cost of getting a bike, making it easier for you to start cycling to work.
Our schemes allow you to choose from all the leading UK bike brands, with options for you to select your bike from Halfords or from hundreds of independent retailers.
How it works
When you sign up for Workplace Bikes your employer will provide you with your chosen cycle and accessories in exchange for an equivalent amount of your normal salary.
If your scheme runs via salary sacrifice you won’t pay any tax or National Insurance on the value of your cycling equipment. Your employer will purchase your equipment and hire it to you, recouping the cost from your salary over the term of the agreement.
For salary deduction schemes, the costs are deducted from your Net salary. Your employer purchases your equipment on your behalf and you pay for it over the term of the agreement.

Joining your employer’s scheme
To join your employer’s Workplace Bikes scheme you will need their unique access code.
If you do not know your employer’s access code you should contact your HR department.
Alternatively contact our customer services team at info@workplacebikes.com or call 0800 612 9015.
Already have an access code?
Enter your employer’s access code. This is sometimes referred to as a scheme reference number.
How much can I save?
The example below is based on a cycle with a retail price of £1,000, with an equivalent salary sacrifice of £83.33 per month over 12 months. Your savings will depend on the price of your cycle and the amount of tax and National Insurance you normally pay.
Tax band | Percentage saving | Reduction in your monthly net pay | Total reduction in net pay | Overall saving against retail price |
---|---|---|---|---|
Basic rate | 28% | £60.00 | £720.00 | £280.00 |
Higher rate | 42% | £48.33 | £580.00 | £420.00 |
Additional rate | 47% | £44.17 | £530.00 | £470.00 |
